This week room 123 had English reading:
- We learned about the letters I, D and N. Please have your child practice writing these letters as well as writing his/her name! We also practiced identifying the first sound we hear in words. Try this at home! Give your child a word and have him/her give you the first sound they hear in the word.
- We read the books: What Lives in the Sea and The Kissing Hand. We discussed animals that live in the sea. We also discussed what a nonfiction (informational) text is and how it is different from a fiction text. We also worked on identifying the setting and retelling a story.
- In writing we shared our treasure bags and wrote about something or someone special to us. We had some great items shared and wonderful stories told about why they are so special! Our writing can be found hanging up in the room…come check it out!!
In Math we began talking about differences and we found differences within pictures and ourselves.
We also finished chapter one and had our very first math test! Next week we will move on to chapter two!
In Social Studies we continue to discuss Superflex and appropriate behavior in different social situations. We even had our very first Superflex mission!
We also attend our very first town meeting. We had the opportunity to see what other children in the school are studying during this first unit. We will get to share what we have been learning at the next town meeting!
Reminders:
- I have established an email group for each homeroom so I can also send notes and important announcements via email. If I do not have your email please let me know so I can add you to the group.
- Please send in an extra pair of clothes (does not have to be a uniform) for your child incase he/she has an accident. Thank You!
- Completed Book It calendars are due Friday!
